Our partner Tecnoscienza asked us to create an original video to convey, with scientific precision, the activities and objectives of the European project EurBeST (European honey Bee breeding and Selection Team) which coordinates 11 countries in the fight against honey bee parasites. We were tasked with including training activities that promote research and awareness.

OUTPUT

We built a 4 minute motion graphic video in English where the fierce honeybees draw their swords and the researchers join forces to fight a common enemy: the "Varroa destructor". In the motion, there are inserts of real footage shot in the experimental hives in the province of Bologna, Italy. These video clips show rare macro images of queen honey bees.

Starting from the honeybee already present in the official project logo, we reconstructed the figure of the fighter honeybee. The colors play in contrast to guide the user's attention in a story that at times is reminiscent of an arcade video game in which the protagonists are the researchers with their power to select and protect resistant honeybees!
